I bet you are wondering who I am and why you need to read the Texas Star blog, if you don’t already know me. A “Pistol”, a “Firecracker”, and “Dynamite”, my colleagues have been so sweet to use these words to describe me. The fact is that I love people, ideas, designs, and results, so naturally I love what I do! I aim to be inspired and to inspire others.
Having produced art, fashion, and entertainment shows over the past few years, managed artists’ careers in commercial photography, and designed for and operated a national apparel and upscale home soft goods company, I know what it takes to bring people together and of course, have a fabulous time!
It’s all in the details. If you think that the creative director of Neiman Marcus didn’t notice the Herman Miller designer chair stamp pasted on the outside of the envelope you sent, you are mistaken. If you thought no one noticed the cardboard paper plates next to your clear acrylic plates at the last event you held, you are mistaken. If you include a Robert Maple Thorpe book in the book shelf of a commercial catalog photo shoot for room sets, because it’s the perfect size and color and the graphic designers will remove the title before the photo goes to print. You should check again or get ready for gun fire!
As the Event Manager for Texas Star Meeting and Event Facility, I am here to make your event memorable and remove the unnecessary stress off your shoulders. Believe me I know, my first event made me sick for 3 months but 500+ attendees at a 10,000 square foot venue, 50+ participants, a sizeable donation to Family Gateway, and a full page profile in the newspaper helped me to get over it.
Do you have an idea for an event or want to bounce around a few ideas? I want to hear from you, if you don’t mind a 17,000 square foot private venue saluting the red, white, and blue.
Signed,
Monica
As the Event Manager for Texas Star Meeting and Event Facility located on the southeast corner of Hwy 35 and 635 in Dallas, TX, I want to personally invite you all to get really friendly with the Texas Star and Texas Sumo family.
Barry and Laura le Flore married, and Barry’s first family purchase was a set of Sumo Suits in 1992. Yes, you can only imagine what Laura was thinking…..

After 19 years later, Texas Sumo is one of the largest interactive game rental companies in the Southwest. Interested in games for your next event, Laura truly delivers service with a smile and how could you not. We’re the icing on top of every party cake! All of our games are delivered to you and maintained by our knowledgeable staff. We carry up to 200 games and many of them are multiples. All this is only possible due to the firm hand of Kevin Glass, our man behind the scenes. Famous office quote: “Now guys, bring snacks when you’re working at a party but I don’t mean the whole Red Lobster buffet.”
In 1998, Barry built the Texas Sumo facility on 11621 Reeder Road, Dallas, TX 75229. He’s a man of many talents and when he can find free time, he drives to Marlin, Texas for his horse rescue ranch, Becky’s Hope. Check it out at www.BeckysHope.com. After all that, you’ll always hear him singing or humming to a tune in his office or walking through the halls.
The second half of the facility was used as a rental space until 2006, when Texas Star Meeting and Event Facility came to be. We still have a copy of the very first check received for a party with Protiviti Inc. hanging up. My lucky stars!
I’ll save the rest for the next blog but I plan to give you the inside scoop on our family here at Texas Star and Texas Sumo, Meeting and Event Planning Tips, News about Games for your next event, Getting into the Industry, Vendor Recommendations, Spotlight Updates, and the list will continue growing. If you have any questions that you would like to have answered, I would love to hear from you.
It’s party time! Call me.
